Construction starts on central phase of Park Central

Construction has now started on the central phase of Crest Nicholson’s Park Central residential development located off Lee Bank Middleway in Birmingham city centre.

Named Central Plaza, the next residential phase will deliver 132 new one and two bedroom apartments in two residential buildings sitting over a 139 space undercroft car park. This striking new building will be located at the heart of the development and will link together the eight acres of landscaped parkland at Park Central, including the Moonlit Park, Wildflower Meadow and Sunset Park.

The construction team started the groundwork of Central Plaza this week, which represents a £15 million investment into the Park Central development. Crest Nicholson are delivering this central phase in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Crest’s development partner Optima Community Association.

Pete Bayliss, senior project manager at Park Central said: “This will be the 11th zone of Park Central to be built, and when completed, will help to link both the Upper and Lower Parkside areas of the development together through a paved walkway combining the parks.

“Park Central is a huge regeneration scheme in the centre of Birmingham city centre and, with an evident lack of new homes currently under construction in the regional marketplace, the spotlight is certainly on Park Central as an active residential development that is successfully boosting the choice on offer for today’s purchasers.”

The two new buildings have been designed so that the majority of apartments will benefit from advantageous views across the parkland. In keeping with the existing green spaces, the central phase will boast a combination of green roof planting and high-quality paved areas for residents’ use.

Crest Nicholson has already transformed the majority of the 61 acres of the former Lee Bank area of Birmingham, from a run-down estate into an integrated, socially sustainable and highly successful new city centre community, with more than 1,000 homes already sold.

Elsewhere at Park Central, a selection of one and two bedroom apartments are currently available in the Lower Parkside phase, with prices starting from just £99,950.
