Team Milltek GT-R to enter Sport Auto Tuner GP at Hockenheim

Team Milltek GT-R, the force behind the impressive R35 Nissan Time Attack car of Richard Marshall, has announced its plans to take the car over to Hockenheim to compete in the Sport Auto Tuner Grand Prix on the 25th and 26th May.

The Derbyshire-based team has already proved to be both quick and competitive after debuting the car at the UK Time Attack season opener at Cadwell Park last month. Despite the circuit favouring much smaller, nimbler machinery and the damp weather removing the car’s power advantage, Marshall was able to post some epic times in the Club AWD championship.

The decision to enter the Sport Auto Tuner Grand Prix comes from Milltek Managing Director Phil Millington’s love of the event. ‘Having attended as a guest for the last ten years, I thought it was about time we showed up to have a go on track instead!’ he commented. ‘We have made several engineering change to the car to conform to the event’s regulations. A set of our FIA-approved race cats have been added and we will be running the car on its full power map, so we should see somewhere in the region of around 900 bhp. This will also give us some great benchmark data for our visit to Zandvoort on the 17th June, but also we will be able to gain invaluable insight for the UK TA round at Snetterton later in the year – another power circuit with a very long straight.’

The car’s spec means it will need to run in the event’s hotly contested Class ‘A’, which caters for un-homologated tuners, which pits it against some seriously impressive constructors – and some very well-known drivers. ‘We’ve got our work cut out for sure, said Millington. ‘It’s an impressive line-up of stable mates, but we’re not here to make up the numbers, put it that way!’

With a crowd of some 30,000 spectators expected on the Saturday, the event always has a great atmosphere, with some epic performances guaranteed. Also present in the Team Milltek GT-R party will be UK Time Attack promoter Glen Horncastle and Milltek’s Swiss distributor Tranchet Trading.
