Taylor Wimpey’s Ferrier Path will be the ‘new home’ for lucky Forth One love-birds Martin Berginis and Magdalena Black after they tie the knot this October thanks to the Forth One’s Win Your Wedding Competition.

Just a few weeks ago, the young couple – both primary teachers in Bathgate – fought off incredible competition to raise £15,290 for Forth One’s Cash for Kids appeal as part of their challenge raise the most they could for the charity to scoop this incredible prize.

The couple had literally just reserved their dream home before entering the competition as Martin Berginis explains: “Everything’s happened so quickly, it’s amazing. A few months ago we’d decided to buy a new home at Taylor Wimpey’s Ferrier Path in Armadale following our engagement and around the same time we’d spotted the Forth One ‘Win Your Wedding’ competition. We’re both teachers so the chance to do something that could raise money for Cash For Kids really resonated with us, whilst at the same time have the opportunity to win a prize as incredible as this and have lots of fun seemed almost too good to be true”

The couple just entered for a bit of fun as Magdalena adds: “We really entered for a bit of fun, we were excited following our engagement and thought we’d have a go because you never know! We were really delighted to get through the first stage and couldn’t really believe we’d made it to the last 20 from all the couples who entered! We then had to prepare a plan of how we’d raise the most money we could for Cash for Kids and we were stunned when we made the top five and had to put our plan into action! We organised a whole host of fund-raising events from a dressing up as funny characters to leg waxing and a collection at the local Tesco supermarket.

“When Taylor Wimpey found out about our challenge, they stepped in and boosted our total by £500 which we were delighted about! We were overwhelmed by the support we had from friends, family and the entire community and are really proud that together we raised over £15,000.”

Forth One’s Cash for Kids Ann Marie Miller adds: “We have been absolutely astounded at the fundraising efforts of Martin and Magdalena. When we interviewed them initially as part of the “Win Your Wedding” competition we were really impressed with their enthusiasm and their plans to raise as much as they could for Cash for Kids. They worked so hard in the 12 day fundraising period and the money raised along with the other four couples has been an amazing £34,200. This money will go a long way to helping the thousands of children we help each year from across East Central Scotland, Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife.”

Karen Armstrong, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland: “We knew we wanted to help as soon as we’d heard Martin and Magdalena needed to raise money for Cash for Kids. It’s a charity Taylor Wimpey is particularly fond of as it helps so many children and families right across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife. I understand the wedding date is set for October, the same month they’ll get the keys to their new home at Ferrier Path so I’m sure it will be a very exciting start to their married life together!”

Ferrier Path is part of the Armadale Station Community Development - an exciting £200 million regeneration plan for South Armadale. This development offers an impressive choice of 75 two and three bedroom semi detached homes, as well as three, four and five bedroom detached family homes and prices start from £174,000 for the four bedroom Douglas currently.
