InsideJapan Tours redesigns the escorted experience

25th June 2012 Print

Destination specialist InsideJapan Tours offers such a wide range of unique small group itineraries that choosing the right tour for the best value can sometimes be confusing. Taking travellers from the mountains of rural Hokkaido to the rainforests of Yakushima, each incorporates Japan’s ‘must-sees’ and ‘hidden gems’ as well as a multitude of cultural experiences guaranteed to give visitors an unforgettable experience.

To simplify the selection process, InsideJapan Tours has introduced four new small group tour categories and has made some of its itineraries more affordable. The new categories - Essential, Classic, Superior and eXplorer - also highlight clearly which elements are included in each tour, so that people can immediately see what they will get for their money. In addition, the IJT Essential category offers travellers the opportunity to add options along the way and choose on the day whether they want to pay to go on a river cruise, visit a museum or dine with the rest of the group.

Says InsideJapan Tour’s Co-Director and Group Tours Manager, Simon King: “We hope the new categories will help guide people to find exactly what they are looking for in an escorted tour to Japan. We also wanted to make it easier and cheaper for people to experience the country.”

“The IJT Essential category contains the relatively new and in demand ‘Japan Unmasked’ tour, plus stripped-down versions of two of our traditionally popular tours - the nine-night ‘Tokaido Trail’ and the 13-night ‘Essential Honshu’ tour. These itineraries have a few less frills than before - such as less luggage forwarding or no airport meet & greet - and can save clients up to £600 per person, yet the Japanese experience is as full as it ever was, plus travellers can opt in to excursions at the last minute.”

The ‘IJT Essential’ category consists of three value-for-money tours offering InsideJapan Tours’ exemplary guide knowledge and expertise throughout; priced from £1,250 pp with fairly simple accommodation.

The ‘IJT Classic’ collection offers three tours staying at three-star-plus traditional Japanese and western-style accommodation. Priced from £1,550 pp including a number of meals and a range of cultural experiences and excursions.

The ‘IJT Superior’ tours start at £3,800 pp and are for travellers who prefer high-quality traditional ryokan accommodation and hotels. They also include a wide range of impressive meals plus lots of cultural activity and excursions.

The ‘IJT eXplorer’ category consists of six niche tours, starting at £2,150 pp, each designed around a particular area of Japan, a cultural or historical aspect, or a special interest; each tour comes with a long list of inclusions. The eXplorer trips range from the cultural craft tour, ‘Hands on Japan’, to the tour designed for any serious foodie, ‘Japanese Food and Cookery’.

All of InsideJapan Tours’ small group itineraries have a maximum of 14 people who travel on superb public transport including the world famous Bullet Train (shinkansen). Itinerary prices include the services of an expert guide and all domestic transfers; flights are extra. Most tours do not carry a single supplement.
