Get help to secure a new home in Hertfordshire

A scheme to help stay-at-home kids finally fly the family nest has arrived at Taylor Wimpey’s Oaktrees development of new houses and apartments in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
As rising property prices force more and more aspiring homeowners to stay put in the parental abode, the leading housebuilder has introduced a fantastic incentive that can help overgrown offspring secure new homes in Borehamwood.
The Government-backed FirstBuy scheme is available now and offers credit-worthy purchasers the chance to secure selected properties for sale in Borehamwood for just 80% of their full price – including a 5% deposit, subject to status.
Christine Scarborough, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “The need for big deposits and rising property prices means first-time buyers have been finding it increasingly hard to purchase houses and apartments in Hertfordshire.
“This has resulted in many young adults choosing to enjoy the comforts of the family home for longer – which may work out well for them, but isn’t necessarily as much fun for the parents!
“Thankfully the availability of FirstBuy is giving parents fresh hope of getting some peace and quiet at last by allowing first-time buyers to secure properties in Borehamwood with just a 5% deposit.”
FirstBuy allows eligible purchasers to secure selected properties such as the two-bedroom Plot 67 ‘Cedars’ apartment for 80% of its £192,500 price – that’s just £154,000, including a 5% deposit of only £9,625!
This impressive apartment features a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with access to a private balcony, plus two well-proportioned bedrooms and a bathroom, while outside the property benefits from allocated parking.
FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers only need put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. The loan is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first-time buyers and their total household earnings should be less than £60,000.
Alternatively, four-bedroom houses at Oaktrees are on sale priced from just £385,000.
Oaktrees is being built on the former Oaklands College site close to Borehamwood town centre and just a stone’s throw from Elstree Studios.
The development is a commuter’s dream, with Elstree and Borehamwood railway station within easy walking distance, offering regular services to London St Pancras in less than 25 minutes. Located just within the M25, Borehamwood has excellent access to the M1, A1 and A41 into Central London.
Oaktrees is situated a short distance from a Tesco supermarket and Borehamwood Shopping Park, which includes Marks & Spencer Simply Food, Next and Boots.
Meanwhile, Brent Cross is just nine miles away, with 120 shops to choose from including John Lewis and Fenwick department stores.
