Aquarium whets the appetite of eager and thrifty school holiday visitors

Lakeside-based visitor attraction, Lakes Aquarium, is upping the ante for this year’s school summer holidays, by creating four creature handling sessions and offering online ticket discounts of up to 30 per cent.
Right up to August 31 2012, the cost of children’s admission online at lakesaquarium.co.uk will be just £3.95, with a family of two adults and two children entering for just £17.80, with online tickets.
Once inside the attraction, located on Windermere’s southern shore near Newby Bridge, Cumbria, families will be able to come and go all day, making the most of one of the most popular features of a visit – the informative, fun and interactive talks and creature handling sessions that really bring the world of animals to life.
New for the summer holidays are ‘Meet the Reptiles’ hands-on sessions at 12.45pm and ‘Meet the Creepy Crawlies’ interactive creature meet and greets at 2.30pm. These will feature everything from a Bearded Dragon to a hissing cockroach and are sure to allow children to feel a sense of accomplishment. Parents can also face their fears, whether that’s by stroking a snake or manoeuvring a Giant Millipede over their hand!
Another new feature is the opportunity to help feed the amazing diving ducks. During Lake Tunnel talks at 11am and 4pm, children will be able to help drop food into the tunnel and watch ducks swim underwater for up to a minute as they seek out their delicacies!
Rockpool sessions at 11.45am and 2pm will be expanded to include the handling of seashore creatures, so visitors get a chance to touch and hold animals from zones as far apart as the Equatorial Rainforest and Morecambe Bay!
In addition, to get into the Olympic spirit, Lakes Aquarium is running a quiz that asks visitors to determine which of two sports particular creatures would excel at, given their skills and physiology.
The all-weather attraction, in its stunning lakeside location, offers a perfect sunny or rainy day experience all year round, but with the new creature handling opportunities and offer prices, there’s every reason to visit during the school break.
The attraction is open every day from 9am to 6pm, with last admission at 5pm. Visit lakesaquarium.co.uk for more information.
