Enjoy Olympic family fun at the Heritage Motor Centre
To coincide with the popular Motoring Record Breakers Exhibition and the Olympic Games, the Heritage Motor Centre is continuing the record breaking theme with a range of family activities this summer. Children of all ages can enjoy daily quizzes and free craft days every Thursday from 11am - 3pm between 21 July and 2 September. Children can make their own medals, wreaths & winner’s trophy, stand on the winner’s podium and get into the spirit of the summer games!
In addition, their infamous Artist in Residence, Ian Cook of PopBangColour, who paints using remote controlled cars will be around on the 7, 9, 28 & 30 August to offer children an insight into his artistic methods. Children can have a go creating portraits with car parts, landscapes with micro-machines and doodling on car panels. Ian has a huge following and will no doubt attract lots of visitors to the museum to join in action.
Children aged 3 – 7 may also like to get behind the wheel of an electric car and experience the Miniature Roadway. Costing £3 per ride, they are open daily from 21 July – 2 September from 11am until 4pm, but are weather dependant. For those that would like to experience the thrills and spills of off-road driving then a 20 minute taster session on the Land Rover Experience is a must! Qualified instructors drive visitors around a challenging off-road course over rocky inclines, steep descents and some pretty impressive water sections. Not suitable for children under 5 years. The cost is £7 per adult and £6 per child.
Penny Tyler, Marketing Officer at the Heritage Motor Centre stated “We are delighted to be continuing with our record breaking theme this summer. Along with our Miniature Roadway, Land Rover Experience and the chance to see Ian Cook in action, families are guaranteed plenty to do when they visit us this summer - whatever the weather!”
There is no extra charge to see the Motoring Record Breakers Exhibition as it is included in the standard Museum entry fees. Museum prices are: Adults £11, Child £8 (5-16 years) under 5 free, Concessions £9 & Family £34 (2 adults & up to 3 children). For more information, visit heritage-motor-centre.co.uk.
