Samsung motion-controlled Angry Birds App for Smart TV

Samsung has launched the industry’s first Angry Birds App for Smart TV. The new App, developed by Rovio Entertainment, enables Smart TV viewers to play the popular game using simple hand gestures via Samsung’s Motion Control technology.

Powered by Samsung’s Smart Interaction, Angry Bird enthusiasts can play the game on the largest screen in the home, enjoying a fully immersive and interactive gaming experience. With just the wave of the hand, viewers can control game play features including initiating the slingshot and activating the unique skills of each bird.

The game’s fun and colourful characters and engaging game play have made it beloved by fans around the world. Since its launch in November 2009, Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 1 billion times, across multiple platforms and all versions of the game.

Angry Birds is the first Smart TV game developed to work with Motion Control, Samsung has worked closely with Rovio over the past year to apply its advanced technology to the Angry Birds App for Samsung Smart TVs.

The Angry Birds Smart TV App will join a growing collection of Apps available on Samsung Smart TVs including YouTube, BBC Sport, Teletext Holidays, Muzu.tv, Facebook and Twitter giving viewers a huge choice of content and entertainment through their television. ‘Samsung Apps’ is the first and biggest App store available for TVs, with over 20 million Apps already downloaded worldwide, proof that consumers are rapidly embracing the Smart TV format. 

The new App will be available on Samsung 2012 Smart Interaction enabled models. Samsung’s unrivalled picture quality and premium design provides viewers with a truly cinematic experience for the living room. The newly launched,  ES8000 feature Samsung’s 5mm (0.2-inch) ultra-slim bezel  and also sports a slim 38mm (1.5-inch) profile which provides more viewing room without increasing the size of the TV.
