The 2012 Bournemouth Air Festival
30 August sees the start of the annual Bournemouth Air Festival, when the skies above this seaside town will be alive with displays from the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Sea King helicopters.
Now in its fifth year, this is the UK’s biggest free event of its kind and further highlights include the Royal Navy’s Black Cat Helicopter Display Team, HMS York, HMS Mounts Bay and flights from the RAF’s Hawk, King Air, Tutor and Tucano aircraft.
There will also be demonstrations from the Tigers parachute team, the Breitling Wingwalkers and a thrilling re-enactment of a daring sea rescue of a downed pilot featuring a Catalina, Me109, P-51 and a Spitfire. Visitors to the event will also enjoy military vehicle displays, military bands and over a mile of stands and ground displays.
For those who fancy joining in the fun, Daish’s Holidays is highlighting five-night breaks, starting on 29 August, at £269 per person.
This twin share price includes half-board accommodation at its Sands Hotel and live nightly entertainment. In addition, up to two children – one pre-school and one aged between five and 15 years – stay free-of-charge when sharing a family room with two adults.
The hotel is situated just a two-minute walk from the town’s West Cliff and offers a range of facilities such as licensed bar, dance floor, lounges and restaurant.
