Kooki: The loyalty card app

Is your wallet stuffed full of reward cards? Making life easier, the Kooki app lets you put all of these onto your phone. You never have to worry about them getting lost or creased again. Now, when you buy a coffee, ice cream or anything else, instead of getting a stamp on a piece of paper, the Kooki app scans a QR code on the shop counter and stores the reward on your phone.

Created by Kartina Tjandra, a student of University College London, Kooki recently launched with twenty shops including Time Out's "highly recommended" La Gelateria in Covent Garden. "I was tired of constantly losing my reward stamps and thought, wouldn't it be cool if I could have them on my phone?" explained Kartina.

With new venues being added all the time, Kooki has become a favourite app for Londoners. Described by The Huffington Post as "London's best app", its users are discovering new cafes, milk shake and ice cream shops. "We like to focus on the smaller, more quirky and unique places" Kartina said, "It makes the experience more fun and also helps the local community".

Yet Kooki isn't just about reducing wallet bulge. Tom Church, Kooki's marketing advisor, said "it's also a serious business tool". Behind the scenes, shops can see exactly how many people have gained a reward or stamp, analyse trends and look at other data. Future versions of Kooki will have the ability to send messages to users, for example "Buy one get one free on all handburgers today!" This capability will make Kooki unique and extremely valuable.
