New AA Travel App
AA Travel Insurance has launched a new travel App designed to help smooth the way for travellers, wherever in the world they are going. The App is free to download.
"We've developed this in-house so it is unique to the AA," says Alan Purvis, director of AA Travel Insurance.
"It includes features such as currency converter, weather advice specific to your destination, travel news as well as the ability to search to find useful local facilities such as cash machines, restaurants, pharmacies and so-on."
The App includes a secure place to store passport details or emergency phone numbers for things like credit card providers in case they get lost or stolen. It also enables AA Travel Insurance or European Breakdown Cover to be bought quickly and easily.
The new App* can be downloaded from i-tunes; or App store.
Travel insurance checklist:
Make sure you take out your EHIC - it is free from the NHS website - or you can apply through a Post Office. Beware of unofficial websites that typically charge a £14.99 ‘service charge' for the free card
Take out travel insurance. Check the terms and conditions and make sure it provides a good level of medical expenses cover (AA provides £10 million); round-the-clock emergency cover; cancellation cover; personal accident cover and financial failure cover).
Tip: if you have home insurance extension for your personal property outside the home, check that it is valid outside the UK (most are). If you have that, you won't need baggage cover which means you should get a discount on your travel insurance.
Download the new App from itunes.apple.com; also available on App store.*
* Currently available on i-phone, Android version will be launched shortly
