Cool camping in Cornwall

16th August 2012 Print

UK cottage holiday company, Classic Cottages, is adding camping in style to its portfolio of over 700 gorgeous coastal and country properties across Cornwall, Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

Its two new super-trendy, gigantic safari-style tents - Hobie or Woody (each sleeping four to six – two bedrooms plus den beds in the living area) – are located in a blissful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Chymder Farm, near Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula in South West Cornwall.

Anthony Skitt, Managing Director of Classic Cottages, says: “Guests will be treated to the finest camping experience. Be warned: if you like roughing it, this might not be for you!”

The spacious tents - far enough apart for privacy but also suitable for two groups holidaying together - are elevated on wooden platforms and equipped to a top-notch standard, including a wood-fired cooker that doubles as a heater if required, enamel crockery for eating indoors or out, quality sprung mattresses, linen bedding and the softest towels.

There’s also an enclosure at the end of each tent with a hot water shower, separate WC, a fridge and a double power socket. Deckchairs are at the ready on the verandah, and a wheelbarrow is provided for speedy luggage transfer (cars are parked out of sight of the accommodation for maximum escapism).

Guests can while away their days in the surrounding twelve acres of meadow - wonderful for a wander, flying kites or to read a book in a relaxing hammock. Cook up delicious dinners using some of the local produce from the on-site honesty shop and, once the sun sets, toast marshmallows over a fire-pit and indulge in a spot of stargazing.

There are oodles of things to see and do nearby, including two gorgeous beaches only a few minutes’ drive away – Gunwalloe Church Cove and Dollar Cove – as well as the quaint fishing villages of Porthleven and Cadgwith. Set off on a horse-riding adventure along the beach or enjoy a spot of golf at Mullion Golf Club which offers glorious views across Church Cove and Mounts Bay.

A week’s stay at Hobie or Woody (each sleeping four to six) costs from £420 total.
