The Stig powerslides back onto British TV

The Stig is back on our television screens this autumn making a dramatic appearance behind the wheel of Aston Martin’s yet to be unleashed AM Vanquish. The iconic driving legend from the hugely popular BBC 2 Top Gear programme is fronting a new action-packed television advertisement promoting the biggest, boldest and most daring Top Gear Live ever staged in the UK taking place at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre from 25-28 October, 2012.
In the pulsating 30-second advert which will run on both terrestrial and satellite channels over the coming weeks and premieres on Dave today (Monday 3 September), The Stig puts the Vanquish, which has a top speed of 183mph, through its paces. The car will be one of a host of supercars starring at next month’s Top Gear Live alongside the acclaimed TV show’s three presenters – Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – and, of course, The Stig.
Filmed inside the NEC, the advert also features a member of the daring Top Gear Live Stunt Team performing two-wheel tricks on a motorbike as The Stig power slides the 565bhp V12-propelled Vanquish around a strongly branded container used to symbolise the arrival of an all-new Top Gear Live show. In turn this will once again bring the TV show to life with jaw-dropping live performances as well as a mouth-watering array of interactive and static displays.
As ever The Stig lets his driving do the talking while Clarkson provides the sound track and asks fans to join him, Hammond and May as they ‘unbox the greatest live motoring event in the world’.
Highlighting both the live Arena and Track shows that are an integral part of Top Gear Live plus the debut of Aston Martin’s latest £189,995 flagship model, Clarkson continues: “The Stig will be tearing around our brand new in-door track in a selection of unreasonably priced supercars and us three will be trying not set each other on fire inside our most dangerous stunt show ever.”
As ever Top Gear Live aims to provide unprecedented entertainment for the entire family and this year’s show has been scheduled to run during most schools’ half-term period at the end of October. With holidays in mind, a special ‘Kids Go Free’ promotion is available for accompanied children (aged between five and 15 years old) on both Thursday and Friday, while special ‘Family Tickets’ are on offer for both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be booked online at the topgearlive.co.uk website or by calling 0871 230 5588, with prices starting from just £49*.
