Basildon amongst most affordable locations to buy a home

Genesis highlights; it is more affordable to buy a home in ‘new towns’ such as Basildon than at any time since 2007, according to research by Lloyds TSB , with house prices in Basildon 38% below the average for the region.
While for some first time buyers, prices in Basildon may still seem out of reach, Genesis is making it even more affordable to get on the property ladder in the area. At its Cleves Court development in Pitsea, Genesis is providing a collection of 56 one and two bedroom apartments on a shared ownership basis.
A 25% share in one of these stylish new one bedroom apartments costs just £24,375, based on the full market value of £97,500. Buyers can purchase between 25% and 75% and increase their share at any time, all the way to 100% and outright ownership.
Cleves Court is available to anyone who does not already own a property and is unable to buy a home on the open market. Their total household income must be less than £60,000 per annum and ideally they will have savings of around £3,500 to cover moving and legal costs.
Situated on the site of the former dairy on Station Lane, the development includes four, five and eight storey buildings all centred around a communal, landscaped courtyard.
The apartments are designed to offer perfect modern living featuring an open plan kitchen and living/dining room. All of the rooms, including the bedrooms and bathrooms have been generously designed with many apartments featuring a balcony, where residents can relax and enjoy fine weather.
Completed to a high specification, the apartments include sleek and modern kitchens with contrasting cream cabinets and dark wood kitchen work surfaces and flooring. Appliances include an Indesit washer/dryer, fridge freezer, electric hob and extractor fan. In the spacious bathrooms features include a thermostatically controlled shower above the bath, white floor to ceiling tiling, free standing basin and a large mirror with spotlights above. The lounge, hallway and bedrooms are covered in cream carpets and there are storage facilities in the hallways.
The apartments include video entry phones to provide residents’ with added security, a car parking space in the undercroft car park and additional storage for bicycles.
Ideal for commuters, Pitsea Railway Station is a short walk from the development offering regular services to London Fenchurch Street in just 41 minutes. This train service also provides quick and easy access to Southend in 20 minutes and to Basildon in 4 minutes.
