Santa Pod Flame and Thunder 2012 - Finish the season in style

After a packed race season that has seen records tumble and some of the world’s finest drivers and riders push the boundaries of the sport further than ever before, you can imagine that the team at Santa Pod Raceway are looking forward to finishing the season in style. The annual Flame and Thunder event at the famous Northamptonshire venue will do just that – and best of all, everyone’s invited! Put the date in your diary now; Saturday 27th October 2012.
Flame and Thunder is unique in its mix of hardcore drag race action and wholesome family fun. Expect to see the fastest Top Fuel demos, Jet-Powered drag cars and bikes strutting their stuff on the quarter mile, but you can also bank on a packed itinerary of stuff for kids of all ages to enjoy, making this event a fantastic day out for the whole clan – particularly as kids under the age of 16 get in absolutely free!
The Live Action Arena promises to be a hotbed of extreme action with 3 Monster Trucks battling it out for supremacy alongside the incredible talents of Guinness World Record holding stunt driver Terry Grant, Freestyle Motocross Action and the insanely dangerous Quad Space Wheel from the South African Vander Brothers. Bike Stunt Shows and Drift Displays ensure a relentless spectacle throughout the evening!
Make sure you charge your camera and phone, because the night will be one long photo and video opportunity! If the incredible noise, heat and speed from the Jet Cars doesn’t do it for you, then the Flaming Burnouts or Wheelie Competition certainly will!
Unsurprisingly, kids are extremely well catered for, meaning your only problem will be which of the acts and attractions to choose from throughout the day. Titan the 8 foot Robot vies for stage time with Dora the Explorer, Buzz Lightyear and Woody, while Postman Pat’s van, a major Funfair, kid’s entertainers, an Ice Rink and Radio Controlled Car track ensure something for everyone.
Music fans can sample ‘Empire’ playing in the Fuelers Bar later in the evening, whilst younger fans will doubtless enjoy acclaimed tribute act, ‘Only 1 Direction’ at 6pm. If these two aren’t your thing, then there’s always American Extreme Wrestling or even a Poi Fire Show to check out..
Youtube sensation Ken Block has been hard to miss this year, with his latest ‘Gymkhana’ video, and the man himself will be at Flame and Thunder to meet his fans and sign a few autographs after a session gymkhana demos! So if you’re one of the 27 MILLION( !) people that watched his last epic video and want to see the man behind the legend, then this is a rare chance to do so in the UK.
The skies above the venue also promise to provide much of the event’s entertainment, with the Black Knights Parachute Team and Mark Jefferies, one of the World’s greatest aerobatic pilots, providing aerial antics earlier in the day and then a fully computer-choreographed Firework Display lighting up the evening skyline.
And finally, there’s a Bonfire of course, lit the only way you would expect from the UK’s most automotively obsessed venue.. by the fire trail of a Jet-powered Beetle! That pretty much sums up the event in one line!
A day ticket cost from just £17 in advance with all kids going FREE! For details of the many more acts and attractions, opening times and book tickets, visit santapod.com.
