A brand new short break package aimed at antiques lovers and other collectors has been launched in York to capitalise on the growing popularity of collecting and the rising numbers of people who watch television programmes such as “Bargain Hunt” and “Antiques Roadshow”, and appreciate fine houses and their contents.

The “York Collectors Break” has been created by The Grange Hotel, one of York’s finest Regency town houses, and takes place over three days at the end of October. Host for the break is the well-known enthusiast Nicholas Merchant of Aspect Events.

The Collectors Break, which takes place from Sunday 21st to Wednesday 24th October, offers guests the opportunity to visit some of Yorkshire’s finest houses in the company of like-minded people. It includes afternoon tea on the day of arrival, three night’s Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at The Grange, the chance to shop and explore in the city of York, guided visits to Fairfax House in York and Beningbrough Hall just outside the city, and a special visit, including lunch, to Newby Hall and Gardens near Ripon.

It is priced at £540 per person, based on two adults sharing a double or twin room for three nights, and reservations can be made by telephoning the hotel on 01904 644744. The Grange’s website can be visited at grangehotel.co.uk.
