Earn cashback on National Rail and Transport for London spend with Santander

20th September 2012 Print

From Monday 24 September, Santander 123 Credit Card customers will be able to earn 3 per cent cashback on their National Rail travel and Transport for London spend including tube, train and bus travel. This is in addition to the existing cashback categories, 1 per cent for supermarket spend, 2 per cent for department store spend and 3 per cent for petrol station spend.

The award winning Santander 123 credit card, originally launched in September 2011, has already saved customers over £10 million in its first year. And with rail fares set to increase by an average 6 per cent in January 2013, customers can now increase the cashback they earn and save three per cent on the cost of commuting.

Alan Mathewson, CEO of Santander Cards, commented: "We've listened to our customers' feedback and are rewarding them with even more cashback with the addition of this category. When we first launched the card a year ago, it was all about saving money for our customers on their everyday spend.  The costs of everyday travel keep rising and now we can help customers whether they use the car, train or tube for their daily journeys."

The new 3 per cent category will form part of the petrol spend category which has a £300 spend cap per month. This cap will remain and be extended to cover spend at any National Rail or Transport for London ticket office or online provider.
