Enjoy Christmas in a traditional Cornish cottage

Cornwall cottage company Looe and Polperro Holidays goes the extra mile with its properties at Christmas to ensure that its guests have a memorable Yuletide.

All the cottages are brightly decorated and a Christmas tree is put up to welcome guests.

The village of Looe itself is a great place to spend Christmas and it was also recently voted the third best place in the UK to spend New Year’s Eve; a village-wide fancy dress party has happened every year for the past 30, with people dressing up and going from pub to pub culminating in fireworks over the harbour at midnight).

For Christmas, there is an annual lantern procession which goes around the harbour, finishing at the quayside with a carol concert, led by local fishermen with everyone joining in.

Looe and Polperro Holidays has around 90 properties to choose from in which to spend Christmas in Cornwall, the majority of them in and around Looe.

For example Captain Jack’s is a stunning property which was completely renovated in 2010). The 3 storey 2 bedroom ex fisherman's cottage is in East Looe just off the seafront and yards from the harbour.

This 1600's cottage has been sympathetically refurbished with an extremely clever use of space-saving fixtures and furnishings to provide very comfortable surroundings, a feeling of no expense spared throughout, yet retaining the wealth and character of a cottage of this era.

A week’s rental over Christmas or New Year costs from £575.
