When is a deal the real deal?

15th October 2012 Print

Almost 65 per cent of people in Huddersfield are cynical when it comes to believing in a good deal, according to a recent survey.

The research by Huddersfield Volkswagen, found that over 60 per cent of women admitted to being anxious when making a major purchase such as a used car compared to 50 per cent of men, even if it was a good deal.

Apart from the price, the survey also found majority of time spent on looking for a new used car was finding a vehicle with the right specifications or options.

Huddersfield Volkswagen’s brand manager, Martyn Webb, is confident Volkswagen has a solution to give people more time driving, than questioning a deal.

He said: “Buying a used car doesn’t have to be a stressful experience.

“Volkswagen has revolutionised the way it sells its used cars by launching Das WeltAuto, which gives motorists free options and a chance to modify its approved used vehicles in a similar way to those available to new car buyers.”

The survey results also found that over 60 per cent of people in Huddersfield spend in excess of 80 hours carrying out research before making the purchase.

Martyn, added: “The stress people find is mainly based on not knowing the history of a car or having the opportunity to change their mind after the purchase.

“With the Das WeltAuto scheme all cars have a full history check, a 12 month warranty and a 30-day exchange or return policy in addition to a number of free of charge options.

“This means people can be assured the price is the real deal.”

The research also looked at the most popular free option when buying a used car. In Huddersfield almost 65 per cent of people chose MOT tests for life, which is available through Das WeltAuto.

The new Volkswagen used car programme also offers drivers a number of manufactured fitted extras. The most popular specifications surveyed were parking sensors, dash integrated sat navs and iPod connectivity, with over 55 per cent of people choosing one of these.

“With Das WeltAuto motorists buying used cars can now feel like their vehicle is not only new to them, but a new car and a deal that isn’t too good to be true,” concluded Martyn.
