FittaMamma are thrilled to announce the arrival of their own little bundle of joy- our FittaWear collection. The range is especially designed for the increasing number of women who choose to carry on exercising during pregnancy, meaning that there is no reason to let your pregnancy stop you from doing what you love Mammas!

It is now reported by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists that 42% of women are choosing to exercise during their pregnancy, with the RCOG supporting the view that women should be encouraged to participate in aerobic and strength-conditioning exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle during their pregnancy. Guess what Mammas? FittaMamma support this view too!

Regular exercise can really help with some of aches, pains and little niggles that come as part and parcel of pregnancy, such as backache and tiredness. Exercise is also great for building up your strength and stamina in preparation for labour and your recovery after giving birth. It only makes sense to be in the best possible shape for labour; you wouldn’t run a marathon without training would you?

Mothers-to-be who exercise regularly are also likely to sleep better whilst the natural endorphins will raise mood levels, helping to combat the baby blues as well.

The latest NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) recommends at least 30 minutes per day of moderate intensity activity for all pregnant women, stating that women who exercised before pregnancy should be able to continue with no adverse effects. If you’re not used to exercise then there are still ways for you to stay active and get fit, such as power walking or yoga, but talk things over with your doctor or midwife before starting anything new just to be sure.

But what to wear?

We ladies like to know that we have a fabulous outfit for every occasion and this shouldn't have to change during pregnancy! We’ve heard far too many stories of Mammas-to-be heading to yoga class in their partner’s old t-shirts or going for a run in uncomfortable and unsupportive work-out gear, so we decided that it was time for a change. Super-stylish, the new FittaMamma range has been carefully designed to meet the needs of active pregnant women with lots of attention to detail such as soft, moisture-wicking fabrics and flat seams with nothing to rub or irritate. Lovely stretchy fabrics are flattering in the early stages, expand with your figure and work well once baby is born too.

Take a look at our unique FittaMamma ‘Sport Support’ top which provides exceptional comfort as your pregnancy progresses. The secret is in the well designed back panel that helps spread the weight of the bump to the back and shoulders, improving your posture and encouraging more comfortable exercise - almost like a sports bra for your body only much more stylish! It’s perfect for running or working out but the extra support makes it comfortable to wear at any time, whether you’re working out, hanging out or chilling out.

The soft, comfortable and stretchy ‘Gentle’ support top has a longer length meaning that it won’t ride up as your stretch and move, making it ideal for yoga or pilates, whilst the stylish ‘Mamma Support’ top is ruched to provide wraparound comfort as you become bigger, designed for any activity from riding a bike to a walk in the park.

FittaMamma leggings come with a lovely wide support panel at the top that will either stretch right over your bump or roll gently underneath, allowing Mammas maximum comfort. They are available in full length, a flattering three quarter length capri or as cycling shorts.

‘Initial feedback for the range has been overwhelming’ says FittaMamma founder Alex McCabe. ‘Most women have found our clothes so comfortable and supportive they have become everyday favourites, not just for exercise!’

The FittaMamma range is available direct from fittamamma.com or can be seen at the Baby Show at Earls Court, October 26-28th.
