Holistic approach to searching for a new home at Gala Meadow

Miller Homes Gala Meadow

If house-buyers at Miller Homes’ Gala Meadow development in Galashiels feel a little stressed, sales adviser Kate Windsor can bring a little calm reflection to their house buying experience.

Experienced sales adviser Kate, who presents the homes and plots to potential house-buyers, also practices Reiki and Spiritual Healing in the chaplaincy at Borders General Hospital. She believes that her listening skills, honed as an alternative therapy practitioner, make her well placed to advise buyers on what home is the best fit for them.

Apart from loving the area, where she lives, Kate knows the market inside out, having worked over the years with builders and estate agents in and around Galashiels. Having come out of semi-retirement to work at Gala Meadow, she explained her reasons why:

“Galashiels is a close community and while people like to move, they also like to stay within an area they know and love. Working across the health sector and housing, you get to know the local people, you understand their needs and desire to keep living locally.

“I have been selling homes all my life and enjoy the process of learning what people want from a home. Similar to my spiritual healing, selling beautiful homes is about listening carefully to people, hearing what their practical requirements and emotional aspirations are, and working closely with them to help them secure their new home with Miller Homes, whether they are local or from further afield.”

The housing market in the Borders town reflects the picture across most of Scotland in that people looking to buy a new home need a little help to sell their existing homes. Miller Homes’ Home Exchange scheme is proving a popular incentive to help people move. Available on the prestigious, imaginatively-designed 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes at Gala Meadow, Home Exchange is a unique scheme, very different from traditional part exchange. It enables buyers to swap their old home for a brand new one, even if there is no difference between the value of the two.

Gala Meadow offers home styles from the 2 bedroom Angus offering French doors to bring the outside in, the 3 bedroom Stanton with separate dining area, through to the 4 bedroom Gala offering dual aspect lounge and master bedroom, the development offers a range of flexible accommodation. Prices start from £125,000.

Anne Marie Britton, Sales Director for Miller Homes Scotland East, added: “Kate is a key resource at our Gala Meadow sales centre. Her training in reiki and spiritual healing is certainly unusual for a sales adviser but it allows her to make strong connections with customers because of her empathy and ability to really hear what they want. Kate also knows the industry well, she knows the local people and she knows what can work to help people get onto or move within the housing market. It’s a fantastic combination.

“The sense of community throughout Galashiels is one its strengths. We will continue to build on that key attribute by creating a public square at Gala Meadow, to foster a sense of neighbourhood and character, creating an ideal opportunity for buyers to put down roots in a community steeped in history and tradition.”
