Appleton Estate Christmas cocktails
All recipes boast the smooth and subtle flavours of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum: butterscotch, brown sugar and spice.
Leading mixologist Jamie MacDonald has exclusively created a hot and a cold cocktail punch with both Appleton Estate V/X and Appleton Estate 8 Year Old for the Christmas period.
Hot: Jamaican Fruit Punch (serves 4)
Ingredients:
240ml Appleton Estate V/X
1 pot Strong black tea
1 tbsp All Spice
1 Banana, sliced
5 sprigs Mint
1 Orange
1 Lemon
10 Raspberries
for strawberry syrup (or use Grenadine)
8 Strawberries
2 cups Water
1 cup Sugar
Method:
1. In a large teapot, brew the tea with All Spice and sweeten with Grenadine or strawberry syrup*
2. Add to the teapot the rum and ¾ the fruit. Let steep for 2 minutes
3. Serve from the teapot or a punch bowl + garnish cups with the remaining fruit
*to make strawberry syrup
1. Mix 2 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar + the strawberries in a saucepan over a medium heat
2. Bring to the boil, whilst stirring to dissolve the sugar
3. Simmer for 5 minutes then allow to cool
4. Strain through cheese cloth | sieve
Cold: Savannah Planter’s Punch (serves 1)
Ingredients:
45ml Appleton Estate 8 Year Old
20ml Cognac
20ml Lemon juice
35ml Pineapple juice
1 tsp Sugar
Cracked ice
Method:
1. Add all ingredients into an ice filled highball glass
2. Stir ingredients until chilled through
