24th January 2013 Print

It’s a new year and for househunters looking for a new home, Miller Homes has unveiled two exciting showhomes in Auchendinny and Markinch.

At its picturesque Balbirnie Bridge development in Markinch, the four bedroom Humber, with its abundance of living space, is difficult to resist. Effortlessly combining traditional styling with flashes of modern elements, it will leave househunters keen to explore every room.

A biscuit colour palate is used in the lounge to create a truly magnificent living space that has a warm and comfortable feel. Stone carpets complement a stone sofa and two armchairs. The matching black gloss nest of tables and console table create focal points of this wonderfully elegant and inviting living area.

The family kitchen, with striking walnut effect work tops and cream matt units, will be loved by cooks for its practical use of space. It leads to the family dining area, where there’s an explosion of colour. Zesty green retro inspired curtains compliment the cream wooden dining table and four ornate chairs. While the cream sofa and two single chairs with a scattering of cushions in the same material as the curtains, provide an invigorating and uplifting feel that would set anyone up for the day ahead.

Upstairs, the super-stylish and chic master bedroom is the ultimate haven to relax in, decorated in cream tones with accents of ochre. The exquisite bed has an eye-catching floral motif throw and matching cushions, with the two black side lamps adorning two cream wooden side tables.

Leading off the master bedroom, is a dressing room. With a matching cream dressing table and side table with a cream lamp, a single cream chair is the perfect place to curl up and read a good book.

The second bedroom in a neutral colour palette offers a calming retreat. Pale biscuit shades, creams and taupes with accents of black go hand in hand to provide a luxurious relaxation space. The ornate black bedside tables and matching chest of drawers work in harmony with the taupe silk-effect curtains.

Anne Marie Britton, Sales Director at Miller Homes Scotland East, said: “The Humber is a fantastic house choice for growing families and the practical layout and size of the rooms are in perfect proportion. The showhome has been designed to cater for a wide range of families - whether they prefer modern or traditional elements of styling, it certainly has great kerb appeal.”

At Dalmore Mill in Auchendinny, which is just nine miles from Edinburgh city centre, the three bedroom Wallace townhouse has been designed using its country location as the inspiration.

Set across three floors the ground floor has an open plan dining kitchen, with walnut gloss units and cream speckled worktop, is the perfect area to catch up on the day’s activities. The corn and beige coloured striped wallpaper is incredibly eye-catching which is set off against an ornate silver mirror. Beige, gold, mustard and taupe harlequin pattern curtains with a tree branch motif adorn the French doors leading out to the back garden. The pale wooden dining table with glass top and six grey padded chairs is the ideal entertaining area. A large sofa and corn coloured linen fabric chair offer a tranquil chill out area.

On the first level at the front of the house is the formal lounge. Decorated in a corn coloured textured wallcovering blends seamlessly with the beige and mustard checked sofa. Linen mustard coloured curtains and a complementing tweed pelmet create a warm and inviting relaxation area. Two table and one floor standing lamps provide the right level of lighting to this calm and cosy room.

The master bedroom is decorated using a turquoise and taupe colour pallet. The turquoise and taupe tweed eye-catching headboard blends in harmony with the silk-effect curtains and tiebacks. But it’s the wallcovering that has the real wow factor. Slightly metallic, with a matt gold embossed lampshade print, it bounces the light off perfectly and will definitely become a talking point with visitors. A complementary bed throw brings the whole look together and mirrored furniture create an area that is perfect for retiring to at the end of a busy day.

On the upper level is two bedrooms. The second bedroom, which overlooks the enclosed back garden, is styled with turquoise, lime green and power blue tones. A leaf motif appears on the curtains and matching bedding which has lime green and powder blue pillows and a powder blue button headboard are reminiscent of a beautiful spring day.

The third bedroom, with a lime green wallcovering, is decorated in shades of blue spanning across the tweed check headboard, pelmet, denim blind and bed cover. Mirrored furniture including a dressing table add a touch of grown up glamour to this stylish room.

Anne Marie said: “Dalmore Mill is set in a fantastic location being only nine miles from Edinburgh city centre. Auchendinny is very picturesque and has a feeling of being in the country which is why we have created a showhome that reflects the location. It certainly has a calm and cosy feeling and a place that anyone would be delighted to call home.”
