Launch prompts high levels of interest in retirement homes

Demand for properties at the launch of the area’s new retirement village Charters Village was unprecedented.

Eight apartments and chalet bungalows, representing a quarter of those being built in phase one, were snapped up during the three day event.

And there has been a steady flow of enquiries since the launch earlier this month, despite the show home not set to be unveiled until the summer.

Charters Village is a purpose built retirement community on the northern fringes of East Grinstead. Work is currently underway with six two bedroom bungalows, 27 apartments and a 60 bed nursing and residential centre being built. The Arts and Crafts style mansion house at the centre of the 16 acre site is also being extended and refurbished and will become the village’s clubhouse.

The chance to reserve a property off plan was offered at the launch of the village which attracted visitors from as far afield as Portsmouth and Nottingham. A scale model, exhibition and computer generated fly through DVD were all available to view.

“We knew from the conversations we’d already had with local people that the launch of Charters Village was eagerly anticipated,” said Sarah Burgess, the Sales and Marketing Director for owners Retirement Villages Ltd. “But we were delighted to discover just how committed people were to wanting to live there.

“Our sales team will be working with those people who have already reserved over the next six months to ensure everything is in place for them to move into their new home at Charters Village at the earliest possible opportunity.”

A dedicated sales office will open on the Felcourt Road site towards the end of March.
