An eco-friendly romantic rural retreat

Manor House Stables

Romantic retreat Manor House Stables in rural Lincolnshire offers an eco-friendly cosy bolthole – and a chance for couples to learn together too.

Not only can couples enjoy a luxury escape in a beautifully restored 18th century stable block, but for a break with a difference they can also take advantage of personalised country craft or cookery courses.

From making chocolates just-for-two to creating their own natural bath & beauty products, couples can mix their own perfect ingredients for a special break.

Set in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, yet just 20 minutes from the historic Cathedral city of Lincoln, Manor House Stables offers some serious eco credentials.

Combining old and new to create a cosy retreat where guests can indulge in country comfort with a natural twist, the Manor House Stables retains many of the stable block’s original features alongside a whole host of modern luxuries.

Solar panels, wood-pellet boiler and wall insulation using natural materials, including cotton and hemp, plus additional ‘green’ touches such as organic wool mattress and recycled cotton rugs offer an insight in to why it scooped a Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold award.

Spacious and full of character, with exposed beams and log-burning stoves, the two self-catering units also have an old-fashioned wooden soaking tub and a copper spa bath to complement the warmly furnished units. Along with the unusual baths, each of the two units welcome guests with luxury toiletries, including bubble bath and bath melts.

And owner Sherry Forbes’ hamper of food and drink - including heart-shaped biscuits and chocolates as well as a bottle of wine and locally-produced juice - sets the indulgent tone for any romantic escape.

The basics are taken care of too – guests will find the fridge full of Lincolnshire produce such as locally-made cheese,  Lincolnshire sausages and free range eggs.

On the doorstep of the Lincolnshire Wolds - perfect country for walking, cycling or just meandering – the Stables are also close to the Lincolnshire coast and the cobbled medieval streets of Lincoln, offering a rural escape for anyone looking for peace and tranquillity.

Couples staying at the Stables and who would like to add a course to their break can choose, subject to availability, from chocolate making, bread making, natural bath & beauty products, knitting and crochet.

Available for short breaks and weekly hire, prices at Manor House Stables start at £300 (Bothy, sleeping up to 3) and £330 (Hayloft, sleeping up to 4) for three nights self catering.

Courses are an optional paid extra, subject to availability.
