Rare chance to buy a new chalet in French Alpine property hotspot

Just on the market in what is said to be one of the property hotspots of the French Alps is a brand new luxurious new five-bedroom, five-bathroom detached chalet.

The region’s leading ski resort developer, MGM French Properties, has built the three-storey property which has a floor area of 190,000 sq m in the centre of Vallandry, a village of traditional architecture in the heart of the Tarentaise valley.

Available for outright purchase, the ski-in, ski-out chalet’s price tag of €1.5 million includes cellar storage, a secure ski locker and space in an underground car park. It will be ready to occupy in the summer.

According to Richard Deans in MGM’s London-based UK sales office (telephone  0207 4940706), It is unusual for MGM to build individual chalets.

“This is a rare opportunity to secure a spacious Alpine home which is ideal for family holidays and house parties,” he says.

The property is close to a new ski-in, ski-out résidence de tourisme recently completed by MGM. Its popularity means that only three of the 23 apartments are still available to buy and occupy now.

The spacious three-bedroom apartments, which have floor areas of 69 sq m, are being offered for sale on a leaseback basis with a guaranteed rental income. They form part of L'Orée des Neiges, a résidence close to Vallandry’s shops and restaurants.

Prices, which include cellar storage, a ski locker and a parking space, start at €334,000, excluding French VAT of 19.6 per cent, waived under the leaseback scheme.

Apartment-owners at L'Orée des Neiges have unlimited use of the recreation and well-being facilities in the résidence as well as access to its spa and beauty centre for massage, facial and body treatments.

Vallandry is a year-round resort which attracts a wide range of experienced and family skiers in the winter months. Located at an altitude of 1,600 metres, it has taken off in recent years following the opening of the Vanoise Express, the world’s longest single span double-decker cable car linking the village with Les Arcs and La Plagne to create the Paradiski area. Its 425 kms of slopes are set to rival the Three Valleys.

At other times of the year visitors to Vallandry can enjoy outdoor activities which include walking, mountain biking and horse-riding – all with dramatic panoramic views – as well as climbing and rafting. The 18-hole Golf des Arcs golf course is located alongside the résidence.

Getting there: The nearest airport is at Chambery, 90 minutes away by car. The airport at Geneva is two hours away. During the ski season the Eurostar Snow Train links London St Pancras with Bourg St Maurice, a bus ride away in the valley below Vallandry.
