Learn to Paint & Draw in the New Forest

6th March 2013 Print

Cottage Lodge, the 5-star eco boutique B&B in the New Forest is starting 2-day ‘So you think you can’t paint’ courses with renowned local artist Mal Phillips; the date of the first course is 16 April.

Comments Christina Simons, owner of Cottage Lodge: “There can’t be many more beautiful places in Britain to learn how to paint or draw than the New Forest. We have open heathland, woods and a pretty coastline, not forgetting the irresistible New Forest ponies.

“But Mal’s real skill is teaching people who are convinced that they have no artistic ability whatsoever to produce something which they never thought they could. It leaves people feeling very rewarded.”
The courses will include one-day’s tutored painting of a landscape and one day’s tutored painting of a seascape on a nature reserve near Keyhaven.

The two day courses cost £190 per person (two sharing a room) which includes two canvasses, a sketch book, paints, two-nights’ B&B at Cottage Lodge plus morning coffee, lunch and cream tea (or from £270 pp for three nights). If only one person wants to do the course, the non-participating person will pay £170 for two nights.

The course dates are: 16th/17th April, 8/9th May, 25th /26th June, 9th /10th July, 17/18th September and 8/9th October.

Cottage Lodge is no ordinary B&B; it has 16 rooms, each of which has been individually designed and furnished to the highest of standards.

The property has an ‘eco’ theme throughout, with furnishings, decorating, flooring and power supply all chosen for their environmentally-friendly properties (one room even has a bike which can be used to power the television).
