Taylor Wimpey’s stunning Indigo Wharf development of new homes in Chelmsford enjoys a superb waterside setting that is helping to attract plenty of attention from would-be buyers.

Savvy home-hunters have been flocking to Taylor Wimpey’s exclusive Indigo Wharf development, eager to take their pick from this stunning collection of waterside apartments for sale in Chelmsford.

This sought-after new community on the quayside of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation Canal is proving a massive hit with property-seekers, with 25% of the properties in Chelmsford sold off-plan since its launch in September 2012.

What’s more, the FirstBuy scheme offers would-be movers a chance to secure selected stylish one and two-bedroom apartments in Chelmsford for 80% of their full price – including a 5% deposit as low as £7,999, subject to status.

With interest in this popular Government-backed incentive showing no signs of slowing, Chelmsford property-seekers are being urged to visit the development as soon as possible to ensure they can take their pick of the plots.

Michael O’Leary, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Essex, says: “We’ve not been surprised by the success of Indigo Wharf, as it’s not every day a chic waterside development in a terrific quayside location comes onto the Chelmsford property market.

“The new homes have proved irresistible to scores of buyers who have been lured by the prospect of contemporary living at a tranquil canalside retreat in the heart of a conservation area, and just moments from the city centre.

“We are continuing to experience a great deal of interest from property-seekers, so anyone harbouring hopes of finding their ideal home here is advised to pay us a visit sooner rather than later!”

FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency and Taylor Wimpey, which is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must not already own a home and their total household earnings should be less than £60,000.

One-bedroom apartments at Indigo Wharf are priced from £199,995 and two-bedroom apartments from £264,995.

Under FirstBuy, the one-bedroom Plot 16 apartment in ‘Tindal Court’, for example, can be purchased for 80% of its £199,995 full price – that’s just £159,996, including a 5% deposit of only £7,999, subject to status.

Each apartment at the development features a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living room opening out to an attractive private terrace or balcony, with good-sized bedrooms and a main bathroom located off the entrance hallway. Two-bedroom plots benefit from en-suite facilities to master bedrooms and allocated parking outside.

All new homes at Indigo Wharf are completed to a high standard specification, including energy efficient central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Indigo Wharf is within walking distance of the exceptional range of amenities in Chelmsford city centre, a vibrant place where shopping centres and major chain shops are complemented by the boutique stores lining Moulsham Street and Baddow Road.

There are over 100 places to eat in the centre of Chelmsford, where an extensive range of fashionable bars, traditional pubs and cafes can be found. Meanwhile, the Civic Theatre and the Comedy Club host performances from major names in the entertainment industry on a regular basis.

Ideally located for commuters, Indigo Wharf is less than a mile from Colchester railway station for regular direct services to London Liverpool Street within 40 minutes. The M25 motorway, meanwhile, is just 13 miles from home, and the Essex coastline is only 20 miles away.

Home-buyers can find out more about the new homes at Indigo Wharf by visiting the Sales and Marketing Suite, located in Navigation Road, Chelmsford, CM2 6HX, and open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 4.30pm. Alternatively, log on to taylorwimpey.co.uk/eastlondon.
