Buy a brand new home and save up to £20,000

Househunters in the West Midlands could save up to £20,000 if they choose a new build property rather than a second hand home, according to national housebuilder Crest Nicholson.
Latest statistics reveal that renovation costs on an older two bedroom property can increase the original asking price by up to £20,000 and this figure could rise even further when the cost of labour is added.
According to Which? the average spend on a new kitchen is £8,000 and with added extras such as a dishwasher, prices could reach in excess of £10,000. The standard cost of a new bathroom currently stands at around £3,000 and if any windows need replacing prices vary from £4,000 to £14,000 depending on standard or premium designs and non-standard items such as French doors.
Ruth Williams, sales manager at Crest Nicholson Regeneration’s Park Central development in Birmingham city centre said: “Purchasing a new build property can act like a security blanket for many new homeowners. Technology and building materials are constantly being improved which means a house that has been built in 2013 will be much more energy efficient that one built ten or even five years ago. Statistically, new build homes are four times more energy efficient than an older house, meaning you could save a significant sum on your electricity and gas bills.
“We have recently launched our latest phase at Park Central which is called Central Plaza and is located right at the heart of our eight acres of parkland. Not only do you get beautiful views, but each apartment comes with a NHBC warranty of ten years and is fitted with the latest eco-friendly technologies, helping to make life more comfortable and affordable for homeowners.”
All the apartments at Central Plaza are being built with thermally efficient windows boasting adaptable coated glass which helps keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Each room also benefits from individual room thermostats and all internal lighting is 100 per cent low energy – saving both electricity and money.
Officially launched to the public in February, Central Plaza represents the latest residential phase of Park Central, which when complete, will deliver 132 luxury one and two bedroom apartments sitting over an undercroft car park. Prices start from £117,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £153,000 for a luxury two bedroom property.
The apartments at Central Plaza have been finished to a high specification, including stylish kitchens complete with stainless steel fittings and modern bathrooms featuring Porcelanosa tiling and chrome towel rails. The majority of the apartments come with gated allocated parking.
