Millwood reaches the LABC finals
Award-winning Millwood Designer Homes could be adding yet more accolades to its already impressive tally. The Kent-based housebuilder has had two of its projects selected as finalists for the prestigious LABC South East Regional Building Excellence Awards, which take place in June.
One of Millwood’s Design & Build projects for a private client has been nominated for Best Individual Dwelling, and Allington Gardens in Newick has been nominated for Best Small Housing Development.
The original site of Allington Gardens consisted of one large detached residence, which was in need of repair, and the rear garden of the adjoining house. By demolishing the existing property and building four detached family homes, Millwood made a positive contribution to the area, not only aesthetically but also by making better use of the site, creating four traditional family homes in place of one.
The development was a huge success, and Sales Director Philip Brown is not surprised to hear that it has been shortlisted, saying, “Allington Gardens is a delightful collection of family homes in an established residential area on the favoured south side of the village. It is an ideal location for families as it benefits from great communication links, a good range of amenities and the local primary school is a short walk from the development.
