Visit the Bury St. Edmunds Food and Drink Festival

4th July 2013 Print

Bury St. Edmunds will host a Food and Drink Festival this August Bank Holiday, and the Angel Hotel is offering visitors a holiday package which includes accommodation on a B&B basis and a three-course dinner from £159per room, per night – saving 30%.

The town will host its second Food and Drink Festival on 25th and 26th August. It will feature a host of events including cookery demonstrations from a chef from The Angel Hotel’s restaurant, Eaterie, a chilli festival, a farmer’s market, street entertainment and appearances from celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli and Mark Poynton.

Keeping in theme of the weekend celebrating British cuisine, the Angel Hotel’s Eaterie serves a modern British menu sourced locally from nearby farmers and market gardeners.

The Eaterie’s menu has been created by new Head Chef Jason Scrimshaw who has worked at the Angel Hotel since October 2012. Jason previously owned and ran the Pheasant at Keystone and appeared on Gordon Ramsey’s ‘F’ word as a finalist. Jason is a strong believer of cooking within the seasons using British produce as well as embracing a ‘nose to tail’ dining experience, transforming somewhat unknown ingredients into delicious dishes.

The Angel Hotel is in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds surrounded by cobbled streets and historic architecture. Housed in an old coaching house where Charles Dickens was once a guest, its Georgian ivy-clad exterior is coupled with a contemporary interior with splashes of pop art, sculptures and chic bedrooms with striking features such as large copper baths and bespoke furniture.
