Vibrant and colourful, the living is definitely easy within Cruden Homes’ stylish new show home at Wester Lea, Newtongrange, providing the perfect interior this summer.

The spacious three-bedroom end terraced show home has been imaginatively decorated throughout with an interior design and furnishings courtesy of IKEA.

Hazel Davies, sales and marketing manager at Cruden Homes (East), said: "We only launched Wester Lea two months ago and it’s already proving a hit with young families and couples. We took this into account when deciding how to decorate the show home, as we wanted to create a look that’s stylish, but at the same time cost effective and easy to replicate.”

The lounge predominately presents crisp white walls, with a citrus lime feature wall evoking Far Eastern influences. A mix of natural wood furniture is combined with practical design elements, such as the stylish dining suite. The comfortable, soft purple sofas are both perfectly positioned to take in the garden via the French doors that open on to it, ideal for those balmy summer evenings. The beech-effect wooden flooring adds to the light and space of the lounge.

The kitchen is the one room of the show property that deviates from the hues and tones of the remaining rooms. It’s effortlessly elegant – streamlined, white gloss fitted units harmonise with modern stainless steel appliances, generating calming surrounds that even the most frantic of cooks will appreciate.

The master-bedroom features a well structured double bed enclosed by a solid wooden frame and matching bedside cabinets. Sumptuous Egyptian white cotton pillows contrast with the birch grey bedcover and slate throw; while a delicate brush of colour is added from the pale turquoise scatter cushions and lamps. The dusk grey feature wall to the back of the bed showcases a large print of blossoming flower.

The remaining two bedrooms exhibit contemporary furniture and textures. Soft, sandy carpets and neutral walls make for a peaceful environment in both rooms, with splashes of pulsating purples and dramatic reds adding warmth via the vivid bed linen and bold wall canvases.

Aside from having an accessible show property that offers uncomplicated yet effective interior design ideas, Cruden Homes also has a choice of helpful incentives to support buyers, including shared equity and 95% MI New Home mortgages, supported by the Scottish Government.

Edinburgh city centre is about 20 minutes by car from Newtongrange and there are three train stations within five miles or less of Wester Lea – Musselburgh, Wallyford and Newcraighall, which has park and ride facilities.
