More than 9000 of the world’s finest classic race and road cars will undoubtedly appeal to those adults with a passion for automotive nostalgia, but this weekend’s Silverstone Classic (26-28 July) also boasts an amazing line-up of FREE entertainment and activities for those of a younger age ensuring the festival provides the perfect family day out.

For those aged 12 years and over there’s the AA First Drive experience, and what better kudos than saying you had your first driving lesson at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. Whacky Wheeler rides are also hugely popular with juniors keen to get behind the wheel. Motor scooter training is also available.

Show goers seeking something rather more light-hearted can enjoy the dodgems, helter skelter and vintage funfair rides or the chance to take a thrilling hot-ride in a Caterham sportscar.

All ages can enjoy huge panoramic views over the massive festival from the new BMW Wheel with gondolas travelling 40-metres into the skies above Silverstone. The latest supercars are always a massive draw, too. Many of the world’s most illustrious marques including Aston Martin, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche will all be showcasing their latest models alongside some of their greatest creations from past generations.

“Whether it’s a teenager’s first driving experience or an exhilarating fun-fair ride, the Silverstone Classic provides so many great activities that families can share together,” said Nick Wigley, Event Director. “It really is a great day out for all ages and interests – what’s more most of these attractions and activities are absolutely free to all those attending the Classic.”

Adult admittance is from just £35 (plus fees) and tickets for accompanied children aged 6-16 years old are just £5. Those aged five and under are admitted free.

For the first time, this year all tickets must be purchased in advance by 5pm on Thursday 25 July. In keeping with the event’s widely acclaimed ‘access all areas’ policy, all tickets include free entrance to both racing paddocks and pit complexes, trackside grandstands and live music concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings as well as free access to all the on-site activities.
