Slide2Sochi Roadshow launches at The Snow Centre
The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead is kick-starting the winter season and launching the Slide2Sochi Roadshow and Snowsport England’s new GO SKI GO BOARD campaign with an action-packed weekend of snow sports activities hosted by Winter Olympian and skiing hero, Ed Drake.
As excitement mounts for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in February, the Slide2Sochi Roadshow, run by governing body Snowsport England and supported by Austrian Tirol, is aimed at inspiring more people to engage with skiing and snowboarding and get behind Great Britain’s winter sports athletes ahead of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
The Winter Launch Weekend takes place at The Snow Centre on Saturday 14th – Sunday 15th September from 10.00am to 4.00 pm and has some fantastic offers, prizes and activities. There is even the chance to win a lift pass for the whole season when you pick up a copy of the brand new magazine from The Snow Centre: SnowSure! Visitors over the weekend will be able to book GO SKI GO BOARD sessions for beginners and improvers as part of the national participation campaign, goskigoboard.org.uk aimed at encouraging more people to enjoy and participate in snowsports all year round.
The Snow Centre remains the newest and most innovative skiing, snowboarding and sledging destination this side of the Alps. With its 160m Main Slope, the largest lesson slope in the UK and a team of highly qualified instructors, it’s the premier real snow destination in the South East to learn and enjoy skiing or boarding.
Over the Winter Launch Weekend, 1 Hour Lift Passes for Adults and Children will cost just £19 and you can enjoy Ski or Freestyle Lessons for a fiver. The weekend is the final chance to book Half Price Beginner Ski or Snowboard Lessons (1.5 hours for an adult for just £24.50) as well as the first opportunity to try out the new ‘Rusty Refresher’ lessons for skiers who are unsure if they’re ready for the Main Slope or which lessons to book. These hour long refresher sessions include 45 minutes guided practice and 15 minutes feedback with an experienced ski instructor who will recommend the most appropriate lesson or lift pass. Rusty Refresher sessions will be available on weekends for £39, but you can book a 30 minute taster session for just £5 during the Winter Launch Weekend.
If you’re just chasing some extra high-energy thrills, book a session of high speed sledging down the Arctic Alley. Simply Sledging will be available over the Winter Launch Weekend too, with the chance to spin down the lesson slope on a choice of zipfy’s or a ringo.
