A Dorset cream tea party to mark the official opening of a new show home and view homes in the former gardens of Sherborne House raised over £800 for the Friends of Yeatman Hospital.

Deputy Mayor of Sherborne Town Council, Councillor Jon Andrews officially opened Sherborne House Gardens by Redcliffe Homes, where just 10 of the 44 new homes being built are still for sale.

Residents and visitors contributed donations at the event, which Redcliffe Homes had agreed to double totalling £866. The secretary of the Friends of Yeatman Hospital Jane Jones was among those attending.

Lorraine Kendrick, Marketing and Sales Manager for Redcliffe Homes said: “The weather held off long enough for us to hold the tea party outside in the newly-created Portman Place.

“New neighbours were able to meet each other and introduce themselves to potential new residents. We were also able to showcase the homes to others who have expressed an interest in moving in.

“We had three houses open for people to look around and see the quality of our new homes and for the first time our new Frink view home was opened showing how a three-bedroom home on three floors creates a spacious living environment.”

Deputy Mayor Jon Andrews cut a ribbon to officially open Portman Place and said the new homes, which are within the listed walled garden are a welcome addition to Sherborne’s community.

Councillor Peter Rhodes, who serves on the council’s planning committee, also attended and was equally impressed.

Work to restore Sherborne House, creating offices, an art gallery and art café continues and is expected to be completed in Spring next year.

The Marketing Suite and show home is open daily 10pm- 5pm. For further details, visit redcliffehomes.co.uk.
