Recruitment kicks off for new Land Rover G4 Challenge UK men and women with a spirit of adventure can now apply to enter the 2008/2009 Land Rover G4 Challenge – one of the most exciting 4x4 driving and adventure events in the world – by logging on to: landroverg4challenge.com.

The Challenge is an exciting global adventure which mixes 4x4 driving with adventure sports and tactical thinking. Applicants should be strong athletes, able to work well in a team and have the stamina to see themselves through both a National and International Selection process.

The successful two-strong British team (made up of the top male and female applicants) – a change from previous Challenges – will then battle against teams from another 17 countries, (including the US, China and Russia), over a gruelling three week Challenge Final for ultimate glory.

The Land Rover G4 Challenge Final, which has already taken competitors to the four corners of the globe in previous years, will take place in 2009 in Asia and, for the first time, the Challenge itself will raise over £1 million in aid of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

John Edwards, Land Rover UK managing director said: "We are looking for some strong competitors to fly the flag for the UK in this awesome adventure challenge. If you are adventurous, enjoy travelling, driving and adventure sports, the Challenge will provide you with the experience of a lifetime – taking you to some of the most remote places on earth, where you will participate in wild adventures over terrain that will test both body and mind and push Land Rover vehicles to the max."

The two previous Land Rover G4 Challenges were won in 2003 by Belgian Fighter pilot Rudi Thoelens and in 2006 by South African sportsman, Martin Dreyer.

Brian Reynolds, the UK representative for the Challenge in 2006 added: "You have to be ready to give 100% - nothing else even comes close to the richness of experience and the awesome sporting challenges that you will face. I am positive the new format to this year's event will make it even more exciting."

The Challenge will be fully carbon offset through Climate Care and the winning competitor will be given a Land Rover vehicle to donate to their country’s National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society.
