The new community of Lawley Village that’s taking shape on the outskirts of Telford is providing so much more than stylish and comfortable new homes for local people – it’s also setting a shining example in the delivery of a truly sustainable development.

Lawley Village Developer Group (LVDG) comprises Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes, Charles Church, David Wilson Homes and Persimmon Homes– housebuilders who are all working together to create a new village which is an example of best practice in environmental, social and economic sustainability.

The development will eventually see the creation of approximately 300 jobs through approximately 30 businesses, within a bustling village centre at the heart of the development providing employment for local people as well as catering for residents’ day-to-day needs.

Featuring a supermarket, shops, offices, restaurants and a pub and occupying a central position surrounded by the new neighbourhoods of Lawley Village, Lawley Square provides a focal point for the whole community. Meanwhile, a new nursery school is due to open at the development in January followed by a new Primary school in September 2015.

In fact, there’s everything the residents of Lawley Village need right on the doorstep, with pedestrian and cycle paths, which link conveniently to the excellent public rights of way between Lawley and Telford town centre as well as the beautiful surrounding countryside, promoting green travel and minimising car usage.

Meanwhile, the benefits of buying a brand new home at Lawley Village include features such as energy-efficient central heating, double glazing and low energy lighting keeping fuel bills to a minimum and child-safe water butts reducing water usage – all contributing to the development’s excellent track record for environmental sustainability.

Guy Scott, Project Director for LVDG, says: “Choosing a brand new home at Lawley Village offers purchasers the chance to invest in much more than just a great-looking place to live – they can also secure a stake in a greener, more sustainable future.

“We’ve been working very hard to ensure that Lawley Village becomes a truly sustainable development and are very proud this vision is now becoming a reality.”

Councillor Charles Smith, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet member with responsibility for Housing, Development & Borough Towns, said: “This new development in Lawley will provide local residents with new homes and facilities.

“We are an ever growing community in Telford & Wrekin and have continued to build new houses over the past few years despite a slowing across the UK.

“Telford & Wrekin Council is committed to creating environmental, social and economic sustainable communities.

“We’re pleased to have been able to bring these jobs to the borough and to be creating further employment opportunities with new businesses moving into the development.”
