Land Rover helps Red Cross to be there in a crisis

Land Rover helps Red Cross to be there in a crisis Land Rover is supporting the British Red Cross during this year's Red Cross Appeal Week, the annual fundraising and awareness-raising drive for the charity, which takes place from 4 to 10 May.

Land Rover dealerships will be raising funds throughout this week as part of the company's G4 Challenge partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The relationship will see Land Rover generate £1m through its partnership with the International Federation and the next two Land Rover G4 Challenge events, the world’s ultimate driving and adventure sports competition.

A whole host of fundraising activities will be taking place in Land Rover dealerships across the country throughout Red Cross Appeal Week including dress down days, auctions, and quiz nights. In addition, each dealer will be provided with collection boxes and the British Red Cross will be assisting dealers with the collection of the money via its network of regional fundraisers. Land Rover will also be running a number of competitions to act as an incentive to encourage customers to visit their local dealer and support the fundraising campaign.

Sir Nicholas Young, Chief Executive of the British Red Cross, said: "As the country’s leading voluntary crisis response organisation, being there for people in a crisis is precisely what the British Red Cross does every day of the year. From a large-scale disaster, such as the food crisis in Africa, to a more personal emergency, such as needing a wheelchair, the Red Cross is always on hand to provide unconditional care. We are very grateful for the fantastic support Land Rover is providing for us during Red Cross Awareness Week.

Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, said: "We are proud to be working in partnership with such an important humanitarian organisation. Our vehicles are used by aid agencies across the world and we know what a huge difference the money we raise can make to vulnerable people in crisis, both locally and overseas."

Land Rover supplies a quarter of the global aid agency market's annual requirement for vehicles. They're used by emergency services, police, ambulance and mountain rescue teams across the country and worldwide. Land Rover is involved in numerous important conservation programmes worldwide, which are hugely beneficial to local communities. Without the use of Land Rovers, some of the rescue missions or emergency operations would be impossible.

Land Rover's humanitarian partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies forms part of an integrated approach to sustainability. Together with sister company, Jaguar, Land Rover is investing £700m in sustainable technology which includes the development of hybrid technology and the use of lightweight material. In addition, Land Rover balances all its manufacturing CO2 emissions from its UK operations (and the first 45,000 miles of customer use in the UK) with the world's largest consumer offset programme managed by Climate Care.
