Better value homes further down the line

Research carried out by Lloyds TSB indicates that people who commute into London are better off financially for catching the train rather than living close to work. Even taking into account the cost of an annual season ticket, prices are considerably lower in Essex than East London.
At Bellway Homes’ beautifully designed development The Coppice in Priors Green, Essex, prices for a five bedroom detached home start at £434,995, compared to an average price of almost £600,000 for a detached home in East London. Regular rail services from nearby Stansted Airport take just under an hour to London Liverpool Street, so even with the annual season ticket of around £4,000 homebuyers are still better off. And with the lower price per square metre of property outside the capital, buyers can get more for their money.
