According to a report published by the Department for Transport earlier this year, 10% of people in the UK cycle at least once per week. Stevenage in Hertfordshire is a town that has recently seen a large upgrade of their 45km cycle network, now separated from busy carriageways and underpasses allowing safe passage across major junctions. Offering ideal homes to suit keen cyclists, Bellway Homes’ Chrysalis Park development have garages for cycle storage and is only 17 minutes away from Stevenage town centre by bike.

Kevin Bowles, Sales Manager at Bellway Homes North London division said: “Thanks to the new cycle network, Stevenage is the perfect place to enjoy cycling for both a healthy lifestyle and free transport to work and around the town. The new homes at Chrysalis Park are just right for cyclists, with great storage facilities and a new cycleway that runs right past the entrance to the development, offering easy access to and from work or school.”

Chrysalis Park is an exciting collection of contemporary 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 3 and 4 bedroom houses in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, a town well known for its open spaces and tree-lined streets. The new homes are spacious and stylish, with houses offering the convenience of a garage or allocated parking spaces for the apartments.

The Mazarine is a great example of a perfect property for cyclists. With prices from £289,995, this three-story, 4-bedroom house has a garage attached to the side of the house for secure cycle storage. On the ground floor, there is a cloakroom and a modern, fitted kitchen/dining room with bay window, ideal for the family to come together in the evening. At the back of the house is a large living room, with French doors that open out onto the garden and fill the room with light.

Upstairs, there are two further good size bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, and a fourth bedroom that would also make a great study, as well as a family bathroom. The master bedroom has the third floor to itself, complete with built in wardrobes and en-suite shower room.

Stevenage is a town with a rich history; notwithstanding being designated as England’s first New Town in 1946, Roman remains were found during the building work in the 1940s. Westgate Shopping Centre and The Forum are the shopping hubs with high street brands and department stores, twice weekly markets in the town centre, and the Plaza has a great choice of restaurants.

In addition to Stevenage’s cycle tracks, a wide range of transport options are available, Stevenage station is three miles from Chrysalis Park, with frequent services to London Kings Cross in around 30 minutes, and the A1(M) is less than 10 minutes away, providing easy access north towards Cambridge and Peterborough and south into London. Luton Airport is also half an hour away by road for those frequent fliers.

Chrysalis Park is well served by good schools, including Martins Wood Primary School half a mile away, The Giles Infant Nursery School just over 1 mile and John Henry Newman College a little over 2 miles away, as well as North Herts College which is easily accessible from the development.

Stevenage is also well served with leisure facilities, with two big name gyms, a number of golf clubs, King George’s Field which boasts cricket and bowls, Broadhall Way, home to Stevenage F.C., Ditchmore Lane Cricket Club, and Stevenage Leisure Park with multiplex cinema, restaurants and clubs. Also nearby is Fairlands Valley Park, which has boating lakes, St Nicholas playing fields and, next door to Chrysalis Park itself, Priors Wood, which has many walking paths to enjoy to the natural surroundings and try to spot a wild deer. Knebworth House, the iconic concert venue also plays host to Classic Motor Shows and the Knebworth Country Show, and is only 12 minutes away from Chrysalis Park.

The homes at Chrysalis Park start from £165,995 for a 2 bedroom apartment, or £274,995 for a three bedroom house and many of them, including the Mazarine, are available with Help to Buy, which offers a Government equity loan of up to 20% of the purchase price, and means that buyers only need to find a 5% deposit and organise a mortgage for the balance of 75%. The Mazarine in particular would need a deposit of just £14,500, and a mortgage secured of only £217,496, in order to buy at this spectacular development.
