Home-hunters looking to get onto the property ladder and enjoy a stunning apartment by the seaside are being urged to visit Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after Peninsula development in Dovercourt.

The Government’s Help to Buy shared equity scheme is available now at this popular Essex development, enabling first-time buyers and those looking to move home to purchase their new property for 80% of its full price, including a 5% deposit.

For example, Under Help to Buy, eligible buyers of a one-bedroom ‘Maldon’ apartment, priced £80,995, only require a 5% deposit of £4,050 and a 75% loan-to-value mortgage of £60,746 to secure the stylish property.

With a 20% loan provided by the Government, Help to Buy customers at Peninsula could look forward to low monthly mortgage payments of as little as £268 – that’s almost £150 less than the average monthly rent of £418 for a similar-sized home in the Harwich area!

Caroline Carter, Regional Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Peninsula has been incredibly popular with Essex property-seekers who are keen to purchase a stylish apartment in a fantastic location close to the coast.

“With Help To Buy now available at the development, buyers will find they need just a small deposit to secure the home of their dreams – and the monthly mortgage repayments could represent a significant saving on rental fees. So the question is, why rent when you can buy at Peninsula?”

The one-bedroom ‘Maldon’ apartment features an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room, a master bedroom and a main bathroom. Outside, there’s allocated parking, while selected plots boast private balconies with views of the Stour shoreline.

Under Help To Buy, customers receive a Government loan of up to 20%, which is available on new-build properties up to the value of £600,000, and there is no salary cap for homebuyers taking advantage of this scheme.

With a 5% deposit all that’s required, this means they can access a 75% loan-to-value mortgage on their chosen property, opening up a wider range of deals and lower monthly payments.

Peninsula offers homebuyers an enviable lifestyle close to Blue Flag beaches, a wealth of restaurants, bars and cafes, a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market plus a great choice of shops, including an Asda supermarket on the doorstep.

In addition to windsurfing and a wide range of watersports, Dovercourt Leisure Centre in Low Road offers a swimming pool and solarium, fitness suite and floodlit pitch, while there are also local facilities for football, rugby, cricket and tennis.

Walking trails provide the chance to explore the nearby woodlands and meadows, while the country lanes and shoreline also make for perfect cycling.

Commuters will appreciate that Dovercourt Railway Station is only half a mile from home, offering regular services to Colchester in 30 minutes, Chelmsford in 60 minutes, and London Liverpool Street in 90 minutes. Road links are also excellent, with the A120 to Colchester close by, and Stansted Airport only 50 miles away.

To find out how buying can be cheaper than renting, prospective purchasers can visit the Peninsula Sales Information Centre, located at Heron Way, Dovercourt, Essex, CO12 3FD, and open daily from 10am to 5pm (Mondays 1.30pm to 5pm).
