Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey West Midlands is contributing towards more than £3 million in local community facilities as part of a major new homes development which is taking shape in Telford.

Taylor Wimpey’s Telford Millennium Village project is delivering a further 375 high-quality homes plus a host of amenities to the community – including financial contributions for the local area totalling £3.082 million.

The money being pledged by Taylor Wimpey in association with the development includes £2.00 million towards local education provision, , £277,770 to enhance the area’s footpath and cycle network and £175,000 towards Ketley Parish Council’s facilities.

In addition, 20% of the new homes at the Millennium Village project are designated as affordable housing, while land at the development is being allocated for public open space, a children’s play area and a BMX track.

On top of these contributions, the development will bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative. Under this scheme, the Government match-funds the council tax raised from the building of each of the development’s 375 new homes, with the money provided directly to the local authority.

Elaine Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Every single new home we build at Taylor Wimpey is part of a community, and we are committed to ensuring this exciting new development in Telford offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.

“The investment of more than £3 million will help to improve public facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of the whole Telford community, ensuring that this sustainable new homes development will both complement and enhance the local area.”

The latest phase of the Millennium Village development, Badgers Rise, is now on sale, offering a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Alternatively, the final three-bedroom ‘Bluebell’ home is available to purchase in the previous phase for just £139,995.

Badgers Rise forms part of the wider Telford Millennium Village, an innovative development created in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency and the borough of Telford & Wrekin. The settlement is designed to be sustainable, ensuring it will include safe places for children to play, a new school, a community centre and fantastic public transport links.

The development is ideally placed to take advantage of the region’s travel network, with junction 6 of the M54 close by, for quick links to the M6 and M6 Toll to Staffordshire and Birmingham and the A5 for Shrewsbury.

The Telford Shopping Centre boasts more than 150 stores including House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, along with enticing cafes, bars and restaurants.

To find out more about the new homes at Badgers Rise, property-seekers can visit the Sales and Marketing Suite, located off Ketley Park Road, Telford, TF1 5BF, and open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm.
