Santa Pod releases Performance and Tuning Show Dates for 2014
Santa Pod Raceway, the home of European Drag Racing, has released details and dates of its performance and tuning shows for 2014. It’s a list of tried and tested greats, with each show promising even more content and attractions for this show season.
The scene’s traditional season opener has always been The Fast Show, this year being held on Sunday the 23rd March. There simply is no better way to blow out the cobwebs after a Winter of getting your show car ready for the new year’s assault on the show scene, and you can expect to see some brand-new creations being rolled out for the very first time, as well as the usual mix of racing, traders and Show and Shine. Start as you mean to go on!
Sunday the 8th of June sees Luton’s finest rolling into town as The Performance Vauxhall Show hits the Pod and the sound of tuned Red-Tops and highly tweaked VXRs fills the place. As the UK’s premier gathering of all things Griffin, expect to see a hugely diverse guest list of Corsas, Novas, Astras, Cavaliers, Vectras, VX220s and even the odd classic! It’s the only place to be for those who know their Chevette from their Chevanne.
Look somewhat further east, Japshow on Sunday 6th July acts as a mecca for all things mechanical from the Land of the Rising Sun. Expect big-bhp Subarus, Nissans, Mitsubishis, Hondas and Suzukis to strut their stuff both on and off the strip, with a healthily packed itinerary of racing, drifting, polishing and showing going on.
USC should need no introduction to true petrolheads, and for this year the show has matured somewhat to offer a much more enthusiast-focussed experience. Held between the 1st -3rd August, it’s still the same action-packed three days of the UK’s most brilliantly modified cars, but this year expect to see some seriously sorted race and show cars attending as USC stamps its authority as the premier venue to find the best of British tuning and car prep.
Fans of the blue propellor will make a bee-line for The BMW Show on Sunday the 28th September where a healthy mix of racing, drifting and show-car action will await them when they arrive. As a dedicated event for BMW cars, expect to see examples of almost every model on show, including some of the older and rarer cars which often make the pilgrimage to try their luck on the quarter mile.
Rounding it all off will be Japshow Finale on Sunday the 12th October. As a fitting way to see out the performance and tuning season, expect show cars to be finished to perfection and racecars to be punished into oblivion! As the second of Santa Pod’s Japanese car festivals, it’s always well attended and offers a brilliant spectacle both on and off of the strip.
