New homes bring more than £250,000 investment to Oldbury

Taylor Wimpey West Midlands is investing more than £250,000 in local community facilities as part of a major new homes development which is taking shape in Oldbury.
The leading housebuiler’s Cedar Drive development is delivering high-quality homes plus a host of amenities to the community – including financial contributions for the local area totalling £254,361.
The money being pledged by Taylor Wimpey in association with the development will go towards providing public open space for use by new residents and those already living within the local area.
In addition, 20 of the new homes to be constructed at Cedar Drive will be designated as affordable housing.
On top of these contributions, the development will bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative. Under this scheme, the Government match-funds the council tax raised from the building of each of the development’s 127 new homes, with the money provided directly to the local authority.
Elaine Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We are committed to ensuring this exciting new development in Oldbury offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.
“Our investment of more than £250,000 will ensure that the whole community can enjoy fantastic open space on their doorstep, delivering a sustainable new homes development that will both complement and enhance the local area.”
The latest phase of the Cedar Drive development is now on sale, offering the last few remaining three and four-bedroom homes from only £158,500.
Cedar Drive is a thoughtfully designed new community less than a mile to the east of Oldbury town centre, in a sought-after and well-established residential location with excellent transport links to Birmingham and beyond.
The new homes lie within beautifully landscaped grounds on the site of the former Sampson Works in Rood End Road. Junctions 1 and 2 of the M5 are close by, linking with the M6 and M42, and there’s a choice of railway stations within walking distance offering services into Birmingham city centre in around ten minutes. The Metro rail link from Wolverhampton to Birmingham makes the journey to work even easier.
A wealth of high street shops, pubs and eateries, day-to-day essentials such as doctors’ and dental surgeries, plus a good choice of schools for children of all ages, are just a short walk away, while historic West Smethwick Park is just a stone’s throw from the new homes, and boasts a children’s play area, allotments, a pavilion and changing rooms, youth games facilities and sports pitches.
