Aspiring homeowners are being offered the chance to swap renting for their very own dream home at Taylor Wimpey’s Blenheim Park development in Colchester – and potentially save money in the process.

The Government-backed Help to Buy scheme is now available at this popular development, allowing purchasers the chance to secure a brand new two or three-bedroom home for 80% of its full price, including a deposit as low as just 5%.

The average monthly cost of renting a three-bedroom property in the CO2 postcode area is £923, yet with the three-bedroom ‘Spruce’ terraced house available from just £219,995 at Blenheim Park, Help to Buy customers at the development could look forward to lower monthly mortgage repayments of as little as £727.

Michael O’Leary, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “Many people who are renting assume that buying their own home is a dream which they can’t make a reality, either because they think they’ll need a huge deposit or because they’re concerned they won’t be able to afford the mortgage repayments.

“The great news is that Help to Buy eliminates the need for big deposits and allows customers to benefit from a lower loan-to-value mortgage as well.

“Would-be buyers are advised to come and have a look at the fantastic homes available at Blenheim Park and find out if owning a brand new property could work out to be cheaper than the cost of their monthly rent!”

Under Help to Buy, a Government loan of up to 20% is provided for new-build properties up to the value of £600,000, meaning customers only require a 5% deposit and a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. There is no salary cap for customers taking advantage of the scheme and it is available to both first-time buyers and those with a property to sell.

The ‘Spruce’ features a spacious living room opening to the private rear garden, plus a kitchen/dining room and a guest cloakroom off the entrance hallway.

Upstairs, the first-floor landing leads to two well-proportioned bedrooms and a main bathroom, while the master bedroom enjoys appealing seclusion on the top floor. Outside, the property benefits from two allocated parking spaces.

Blenheim Park enjoys a convenient location in Colchester, a vibrant town with a fascinating history. From the old weavers’ cottages in the charming Dutch Quarter, the historic Castle Museum and Castle Park, to art galleries and exhibitions and an eclectic selection of shops, bars and restaurants, there is something for everyone.

Commuters will appreciate good rail and road links to Chelmsford, Brentwood and London – with regular train services to London Liverpool Street in under an hour – and to Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and the Midlands. The M11 and Stansted Airport are easily accessible via the new A120.

Within easy reach of the beautiful rural Essex landscape, Colchester is also handy for the great British seaside, as the coast at wonderful West Mersea is just 10 miles away.
