Best foot forward for Ramblers Worldwide Holidays choice of pilgrim trails following the launch of Simon Reeve's new series of television programmes featuring the World's most epic walking pilgrimages (BBC2 9 p.m. Tuesday 3 December).

Route St Jacques - a 14 day continuous walk from Le Puy to Congues in France.  The pilgrimage begins in the historic town of Le Puy situated in the heart of an ancient volcanoe, then follows the 'Sentier de St Jacques' westward through the dramatic gorges of the Allier river, the Aubrac Plains and the Lot Valley to the famous medieval pilgrimage town of Congues.

Camino de Santiago - a 13 day pilgrimage tour between Léon and Santiago de Compostela. Highlights include a walk from Sarria to Portomarin; the tiny and ancient villages between Palas de Rei and Arzúa and views from Montegozo where the spires of Santiago first come into view.

Price from £1,299 per person per person includes return flights, transfers, half board accommodation and the services of a dedicated tour leader.

A Biblical Journey Through Israel and Palestine - an 11 day adventure across the Holy Land which begins in Bethlehem visiting the Church of the Nativity and exploring the surrounding area which includes the spectacular Wadi Qelt; St George's Monastery; Jericho (reputedly the oldest town in the World); Nazareth (the boyhood home of Jesus); Tiberius on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and the spectacular Mount of Beatitudes.   The next leg of this spiritual journey embraces Jerusalem where one will have a chance to explore the Old City on foot viewing the Dome of the Rock, the western wall and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Mount of Olives, Mount Zion and the Garden of Gethsemane and the Israel Museum which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls.
