Homebuyers have a superb chance to step on – or up – the property ladder for less at Taylor Wimpey’s popular developments in the Newport area.

The Welsh Government’s new Help to Buy Wales shared equity scheme is available now at Allt Yr Yn, City Vizion and Lysaght Village in Newport, Lydia Beynon Gardens in Langstone and Cwrt Yr Eglwys in Caldicot.

Help to Buy Wales customers will receive a loan of up to 20% from the Welsh Government to help with their home purchase, which means that they only need to put down a deposit as low as 5% and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage.

For example, the stylish one-bedroom Plot 357 ‘Teme’ coach house-style apartment at Lysaght Village, priced at £99,995, can be secured under Help to Buy Wales. With an equity loan of up to £19,999, the purchaser only requires a mortgage of £74,996 and a deposit as low as £5,000.

The scheme is open to first-time buyers and existing home-owners purchasing new-build properties in Wales up to the value of £300,000.

Because Help to Buy Wales customers only require a 75% loan-to-value mortgage, they can access a much wider range of competitive deals from lenders, making their monthly mortgage payments more affordable.

Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, says: “Help to Buy Wales offers the perfect solution for would-be buyers who until now have been struggling to step on or up the property ladder.

“This superb scheme makes it possible to secure an apartment or a family-size home in Newport without a hefty down payment – and benefit from lower monthly mortgage repayments – leaving the homeowner free to enjoy life in this wonderful location.

“However, the launch of Help to Buy Wales has been hotly anticipated, so I’d advise anyone hoping to take advantage of this initiative to get in quick, or risk missing out on their dream home.”
