Taylor Wimpey to host public consultation for new homes plan at Kirton Concrete Works

16th April 2014 Print

People in Kirton, Suffolk, are being invited to have their say on new proposals for a residential development on the site of an existing concrete works in the village.

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey East Anglia is bringing forward plans to develop approximately 45 high-quality homes, including much-needed affordable housing, at B&M Concrete, off Falkenham Road.

B&M Concrete has recently secured planning permission to move to a new site immediately south of its current premises. This has enabled the company to make its existing works available for development while retaining its operations in the village and continuing to provide jobs for local people.

Taylor Wimpey is presenting its emerging plans for the proposed residential development at a forthcoming public consultation event, giving local residents, businesses and community groups the chance to view and comment on the scheme before a planning application is submitted.

The exhibition is taking place at Kirton and Falkenham Village Hall, Falkenham Road, Kirton, on Thursday 24th April between 3pm and 8pm.

Mark Edmonds, Planning and Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “We are working with B&M Concrete to bring forward plans for a new residential development on the site of the company’s existing works off Falkenham Road, helping to fulfil the need for more high-quality homes in the local area while enabling B&M to proceed with its proposed move to neighbouring land.

“As a considerate and responsible housebuilder, we want to give local people the opportunity to view and comment on our proposals while they are still being developed. All feedback will then be taken into consideration as we finalise our planning application for submission to Suffolk Coastal District Council in the near future.

“Those visiting our public exhibition on Thursday 24th April will be able to speak to representatives from Taylor Wimpey’s project team to find out more, as well as tell us how they think our development should look and let us know their aspirations and priorities for the proposed scheme.”

Taylor Wimpey’s public exhibition will be taking place on Thursday 24th April between 3pm and 8pm at Kirton and Falkenham Village Hall, 65 Falkenham Road, Kirton, IP10 0QW, and all are welcome.

Those who are unable to attend the event will be able to access all public consultation material and submit their comments online at taylorwimpey.co.uk/kirton-suffolk from Thursday 24th April onwards.
