Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has secured full planning permission for an exciting new mixed-use development in the heart of Bournemouth town centre’s tourism core.

The flagship regeneration scheme to develop new high-quality apartments, holiday lets and a restaurant on the site of the Bournemouth International Hotel was approved unanimously by Bournemouth Borough Council’s planning board on Monday 19th May.

Taylor Wimpey is now looking forward to beginning initial works on the development in Autumn 2014, with the first new homes expected to be released for sale in Spring 2015.

Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “We are delighted to have received full planning permission for our Bournemouth International Hotel regeneration scheme and we are particularly pleased that our proposals were approved unanimously.

“Our scheme will transform this landmark site into an exciting new development of 86 high-quality apartments and holiday lets – including many homes with wonderful sea views – together with a new restaurant and basement car parking.

“We have taken great care to make sure our designs for the scheme are in keeping with the character and appearance of the surrounding area, and we have also worked closely with the local planning authority to ensure that the development respects the West Cliff Conservation Area opposite the site.

“We’re expecting significant interest in our new homes and holiday lets, so I would urge anyone keen to secure their place at this stunning new development to register their interest today.”

Occupying a prime corner plot adjacent to the Bournemouth International Centre and the proposed Bournemouth School Hotel site, Taylor Wimpey’s development will comprise two six-storey buildings which aim to complement the architectural heritage of the area through a contemporary design approach.

The scheme will include a total of 86 new homes including 77 apartments and nine holiday lets, with the development served by secure underground parking and cycle storage. The apartment buildings have also been carefully designed to make the most of their enviable location close to the sea front, with as many of the new homes as possible orientated to benefit from spectacular sea views.

There will also be a new restaurant to replace the existing Ocean Palace restaurant on site, while landscaped amenity spaces will be provided at the rear of the development and alongside its roadside frontages to create an attractive setting for the scheme.

As part of the planning permission awarded by Bournemouth Borough Council, Taylor Wimpey will provide a range of contributions towards improving existing facilities, services and infrastructure in the local community, with full details to be agreed in due course.
