A recent report by insurance firm LV suggests that the size of the average new home in the UK has shrunk by 2 sq.m in the last 10 years to 96.8m², with a fifth of home owners forced to modify their homes to create more space. At Bellway Homes’ development The Paddocks in Ashingdon, Essex, the homes currently available range from 101.9m² to 182.1m², offering spacious homes well above the national average.

The Paddocks is an exceptional collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes set in an attractively landscaped development with a lake and private parklands at its heart. Stunning views across the Crouch Valley provide the backdrop to a modern village lifestyle.

Speaking about the development, Paul Timson, sales manager of Bellway Homes Essex comments “The Paddocks has proved extremely popular with families looking for more space without compromising on location. The homes available are all detached and the development benefits from an acre of surrounding green spaces, which contributes to the overall open space both in and out of the homes.”

The Paddocks has real appeal to second steppers, offering a good choice of detached three, four and five bedroom homes. A perfect example of the spacious homes available at the development is the three storey, five bedroom Eaton housetype, priced from £456,995.

Boasting a hall the leads to all rooms, the ground floor of the Eaton enjoys bay windows to the front and French doors to the rear of the house, overlooking the landscaped gardens. The dual aspect living room is airy and light, and the open plan kitchen/family area is ideal for parents and children to spend time together in the evening. A separate utility room from the kitchen and downstairs cloakroom allow for ease of modern conveniences.

The first floor sees two double bedrooms, each with their own en suites, and an additional bedroom that would make an ideal study or playroom. The master bedroom also enjoys fitted wardrobes with sliding doors and large dressing area. The second floor has two additional double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Ashingdon has a thriving local community. The village has several schools nearby, including Holt Farm Infant and Junior, Saint Teresa’s Catholic Primary, and King Edmund Senior schools. At the heart of the community is the village hall, which hosts regular social events, as well as dance classes and art groups, quiz nights and play groups for tots. King George’s playing field provides football and cricket pitches and an adventure playground.

The Paddocks is surrounded by stunning coastal countryside and ancient woodland. Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists, whilst the Magnolia Park Nature Reserve and Parkland is a haven for wildlife all-year-round. The tidal River Crouch offers creeks, coastal footpaths, sailing yachts and wind-surfing and boat trips to glimpse seal colonies.

Rochford’s frequent services into London Liverpool Street take about 54 minutes, while road links are excellent with the A127 and A130 easily accessed, and London Southend Airport is only three miles away.

Prices for homes at The Paddocks range from £309,995 for a three bedroom home and from £434,995 for a five bedroom. All the homes are available with Bellway’s Part Exchange scheme, where a fair offer will be made for your home, based upon an independent valuation, and there are no estate agents or advertising fees to pay.
